Fried Flathead
Fried Flathead is one of the more popular seafood dishes commonly found on pub menus around Australia. This delicious fish also called the froggy is found in bays and coastal waters all around the country. Living on the bottom of the sea floor the fish is known as a scavenger eating just about anything which comes its way. The fish might not be one of the more pleasant to look at with their budging eyes and wide mouth and slimy blotch grey scaled skin but they sure are tasty. They are enjoyed grilled, crumbed and in this case in a light batter then served with a fresh garden salad and a dipping sauce. The flesh has a mild but sweet taste and is a healthy alternative to some of the heavier items usually found on the menu.
