Steak and Guinness Pie
The Steak and Guinness is found on pub menu boards around the world and is practically a staple item in any Irish themed pub. The Steak and Guinness Pie is a delicious and hearty meal especially on a cold day. The pie sometimes consists of a full pastry pie filled with rich slowly stewed steak, vegetables and Guinness beer, while another variation sees the pie being prepared in a pie dish, with no pastry bottom or sides but a golden brown pastry lid. Vegetables used are usually onion and some root vegetables like carrots or even potato. The pie is usually served with potato mash or chunky fries, which if you don’t eat them all first are great to soak up the last bits of the rich and delicious gravy.
