The Philly Steak Sandwich
One of the more popular pub meals in the USA is the Philly Steak Sandwich or sometimes called the cheese steak. It tastes absolutely fantastic and it’s a wonder it hasn’t popped up on more menus around the world. The Philly steak starts off with a fresh long roll usually sourdough and is filled with delicious strips of marinated steak, grilled onions and capsicum or peppers. Then it is smothered in warm melted cheese. Pat & Harry Olivieri are credited for inventing this sandwich which dates back to the 1930’s in the US city of Philadelphia, their restaurant Pats King of Steaks still run today on South 9th Street, Wharton Avenue, and East Passyunk Avenue.
